Artist, writer and speaker Steve Chapman (aka @stevexoh) invites us to let go of our preconceptions of art and our artistic ability

"The image in your head is not a drawing - it's a thought. Drawing comes out of the body!"

- Linda Barry

In this session, artist, writer and speaker Steve Chapman (aka @stevexoh) invites us to let go of our preconceptions of art and our artistic ability to immerse ourselves in the process of embodied mark making. There is nothing to achieve, nothing to learn and no standards or objectives to meet. Steve will simply lead us through several experimental exercises to help us gently shake off the "oughts" and "shoulds" associated with the artful practice. We will allow our art to emerge from our bodies, senses, and emotions in a mindful, playful, and accessible way. You will not be asked to show your work to others unless you would like to.

Please bring some mark making materials with you to this session. A pen/pencil and some paper are great. And if you have other slightly more sensual/crumbly/squishy materials to hand, such as crayons, pastels, paints, clay, plasticine, then do please bring them too.

This taster session is part of an ongoing series where Creative Dance London invite experienced facilitators, companies and artists to guide participants through personal and creative exploration. Art and expression can move our mind, body and spirit in unique ways, and so, we are on a mission to find unique ways to create transformation. These sessions take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 6pm and cost £5.
